Overview of Java
Java currently has around 784,622 job postings, with a 2.3% increase, and an average salary of $124,800 per year. It’s best known for powering client-server applications, which are widely used by large businesses. One of Java’s biggest advantages is that it’s loosely coupled, meaning programs written in Java can run on any platform that supports it. This flexibility is why it’s often called the “write once, run anywhere” language. However, Java isn’t the best choice for cloud-based applications, and Oracle, which owns Java, requires a paid license for its development kit. Besides business applications, Java is also heavily used in Android development.
